Versatile Dresses for Spring, Summer and beyond

We have finally turned the corner, I think, here in Northern Vermont and  many of us are excited to start wearing our warmer weather pieces and maybe do a little shopping.I've had some questions and interest both at my event last week and working with a client, recently,  in versatile dresses for spring and summer so I pulled some of my favorites together.

This v neck wrap style is one of my favorites and I have several versions of this in my closet. Banana Republic.

These two are both from Banana Republic. The v-neck is flattering for most, the length is perfect and the fabric makes it season less with the right layering. Prints can be very versatile if you choose a print that goes with the neutral foundation pieces you already own.

This deep v neck can be layered with a cami or in the cooler months a turtleneck or other long sleeve. It is from Boden and is Merino Wool so would be a great choice for early spring and would be a great transition piece for fall and winter. Again the length is perfect and can be dressed up or down with accessories.
Here is an option that could take you through all 4 seasons.
Jcrew

Love this printed sheer dress from Zara. A little dressier than some of the other options. The print is a great neutral animal print!
Zara

Finally two great, budget friendly pieces from Old Navy. Notice the knee length, simple styling and versatile fabric.

Love to see your comments on my picks and how you might style and accessorize! Happy Spring!

Also come see me talk about versatile dresses at Green Envy Boutique in Stowe, VT at our Pops of Color event Thursday May 24th, 7:00-9:00 pm.
Lots of great prizes and discounts.

Some of my favorite new things for Fall

I have been  shopping a bit over the past few weeks, made a good dent in my wish list for Fall/Winter 2011(as well as my checking account).  I took some pics this afternoon, it is beautiful here in Northern VT this time of year. I was inspired by the grays, yellows and reds outside my window.

So excited for my new boots! Both tall and short versions will be so versatile and work for school and when I'm styling and working with clients. Really love wearing these now with bare legs and dresses and skinnies with the cuffs rolled up a bit, so cute!

I also love how these will work with my Liebskind bag from this spring.

I found this adorable dress at Old Navy this summer. I wore it on Nantucket with my Lobster espadrilles and I am loving it now with my tall gray boots and scarf. I will continue to wear it through the winter layering it with a turtleneck and tights.

I have been waiting for my red jeggings, they arrived last week. I just love the subtle rust tone. They are super comfortable and the color works with almost everything in my closet!
Here is a close-up of the cute sweater and the scarf I am loving, couldn't resist adding in my Liebskind for fun!

Let me know what you think of my purchases and share any ideas you have for Fall looks!

Tall boots, Joie from Green Envy in Stowe
Short boots, Indigo from Stella in Burlington
Liebskind Handbag from Green Envy
Denim dress from Old Navy
Scarf from American Eagle in Burlington
Sweater, Bobi from Green Envy
Red Jeggings, DL 1961 from Green Envy

Cashmere, denim and boots oh my!!

We had a great event at Green Envy and stayed until the wee hours ( 10:00, it was a school night!), raised some money for the Waterbury Good Neighbor Fund and collected can goods for the Waterbury Food shelf. There will be another evening of great sales and I'll be available for shopping help Thursday October 6th, 6pm-9pm at Green Envy

Lots of  excitement to try on the boots, denim and cashmere I shared during the presentation. I'll share the key points here. First some fun pics from the evening:

Colored Denim
This is such a hot trend for fall. You'll see every color including reds and brights. I love trying this trend with a neutral like brown or green. It will most likely go with almost everything in your closet and will go great with your brown and black boots. I styled these skinny brown jeans with a pale blue cashmere sweater and distressed brown short booties. It looked even better on Steffi, one of our gracious models.

Flares and Bell Bottoms
I had this amazing thought! In the magazines and catalogs they show flares and bell bottoms with platforms or wedges. I realized that these shoes don't exactly fit with our northern Vermont lifestyle but.......guess what does work? Danskos and Sorels!! The wide flare and bell bottom need  sturdy, chunky shoe to balance all the fabric. While we might not wear a 4 inch high platform we can still rock this look with our chunky clogs and boots. I styled this flare with a great striped black and brown sweater and a super awesome short suede bootie.

Skinny Jeans, Leggings, Chunky Sweaters and Boots

Love the black on black with the light colored boot.

Here we have a light colored sweater with the same black jeggings and light boots.

It was a great evening and we will have a rain date sale and girls night out for all of our Waterbury Friends who couldn't make it: Thursday October 6th, 6pm-9pm, details will follow.

The seasons are changing......

So there was a  chill in the air this morning and even now with the sun shining brightly I can feel the hint of fall. I am getting excited for the cooler weather and have already started dreaming of pulling on my boots and cashmere.
Tell me, tell me, what are you excited about wearing this fall?
Boots?
Jackets?
Sweaters?

Here is some inspiration from the NYC shows.

Let me know what are you looking forward to trying this Fall!!
Of course let me know if you need help getting excited for the change of seasons.

My obsession with Parisian Chic continues

This summer started with a friend gifting me the Parisian Chic style book I mentioned in an earlier post. Little did I know almost a month later I would still be obsessed with all things Parisian including the colors red, white and blue.  July 4th was just a few weeks ago and with the visit by Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge red, white and blue color schemes have been everywhere lately. These colors truly say summer to me and I love wearing them together in a chic simple way, without literal symbols like flags.  I styled a couple of looks at Green Envy in Stowe and Amber was my wonderful model. I really like navy blue on top, white bottoms and of course, red shoes.

I also spotted an example of this color scheme while I was on Nantucket last week.

Right now I am searching for the perfect Navy blue cashmere v-neck to wear with my white jeans. I'll wear this with ballet flats or flat sandals now and with brown boots heading into the fall.

Navy Lobsters? Tres chic!

Call it the "secret", the power of attraction or just plain coincidence but I found these adorable and very "Parisian chic" espadrilles the other day after popping into Marshall's to pick up a few things for Fiona's trip to the Shore.  They have little lobsters in Navy blue with a patent leather strip on the back.  I can't wait to wear them at the beach in a few weeks or I could break them in early, sipping a French Rose on my deck. I already have several pairs of espadrilles but I love these because they are flat and the whimsical print makes them special. Navy and white is a classic color combo and I can't wait to wear these with white jeans and a cute orange tee. Of course, since I found them at Marshall's the price was perfect! A bientot!
